We live in a service city, it’s true. Angelenos are used to having specialists for everything from fashion to fireplaces on speed dial. Is speed dial still a thing? If you’re willing to shell out a few bucks, there isn’t much you can’t book an appointment for, or get delivered in LA.

And we’re known for customer service. Especially when it comes to beauty. As a local beauty blogger, I visit a lot of offices, salons, and spas – where professionals are passionate about their crafts and eager to share their expertise. This city believes in the customer experience.

So when a hair stylist stands out among so many other gifted local artists, I have to give her a special shoutout.

Cheers to Desi at the Umberto Salon in Beverly Hills! Not because she did my highlights exactly as I wanted (No caramel!), and not because she works at one of the longest standing salons in the city. But because of her commitment and energy.

My satisfaction was her priority from the time I walked in, until the moment I exited. She kept it real, too. My kinda girl. Desi showed me all the products my hair definitely didn’t need, and how to use the ones that would make a big difference.

Last note: It was great to see a stylist so proud of her team. She wasn’t new to the Umberto Salon but spoke with all the excitement of a new hire. It’s not uncommon for salons to take on a familial culture, but it’s still awesome to hear firsthand accounts of owners taking good care of their employees. Props to Umberto Savone, too!
