Guide to Mom’s Day

May means blue skies and butterflies. It feels like summer is on its way – in Los Angeles at least. It also means Mother’s Day. So lock in your brunch rez, grab that gift, and get ready fobiter a day with Mom.

When it comes to giving gifts, I often opt for something Mom might not buy for herself. Here are a few fun ideas I’ve come across lately.

Deconstructed Rose Lip Gloss Library

By Bite Beauty

A library of 12 perfectly purse-sized, rose-colored glosses, ranging from soft pinks to deep reds. They come in a feminine blossom box and have light rosewater fragrances. Make sure she tries on every shade. Each one goes on sheer and can be layered for a denser shine of color. Sephora

Bloxsun Sun Glove

By Bloxsun

As an LA driver, I’m a huge fan of this product! Help Mom protect her hands from UV rays, photo aging, collagen breakdown, sunspots – and all that other fun stuff. Bloxsun Sun Gloves have the fingertips cut off for better mobility, are rated UPF 50+ (highest level of sun protection avail today!), and come in a sweet little pouch.

Get them HERE.

lancerLancer Dermatology

440 N. Rodeo Drive | BH, 90210

I haven’t tried anything from Dr. Harold Lancer’s skin care collection that hasn’t been used to the very last drop. I truly love his products – and his no-BS manner. His Rodeo Drive office is probably the poshest (it’s a word now) practice I’ve visited. If Mom is a skin fanatic and you can swing the bill for an appointment, go for it! Otherwise, hook her up with some of his products.

Suggestions: Any of the Nourish creams, skin Polishes, or Lancer Lash (it’s NEW!)

Erick Orellana

Sally Hershberger Los Angeles

760 North La Cienega Blvd. | LA, 90069

310.854.4922

It’s likely that Mom has heard of Sally Hershberger. Best known for her choppy short cuts à la Meg Ryan, she’s got salons on both coasts, and is one of Hollywood’s most famous hair stylists. But Sally’s salon colorists and stylists are renowned in their own rights, as well.

Do Mom a special solid and book her an appointment for some new highlights with Erick Orellana. She’ll know she’s in good hands as soon as she hits the chair. Erick makes it his business (literally!) to be meticulous about hair color, and is known as an industry go-to guy for color correction.

You can even meet Mom after for some killer coffee around the corner at Alfred on Melrose Place… quite possibly my favorite street in Los Angeles.

Pure Treatment Oil

By SHOW Beauty

If Mom wouldn’t dare drift from her own stylist, treat her hair to real indulgence with SHOW Beauty’s Pure Treatment Oil. It’s a strengthening Argan Oil elixir that helps to enhance shine, elasticity, and overall hair health. Plus the bottle is so gorgeous, it can actually double as décor.

Pick up any of the SHOW Beauty products at Net-a-Porter.

Happy Mother’s Day, all!
