Your Questions Answered: Skin Care & Color Picks

It’s been a minute, I know. Like so many of us, life in the COVID era has been a constant reorg of priorities and planning. But I’m here now and excited to answer a few of your DM questions. So here goes…

Q: What are some of your nighttime skincare hacks?

I can’t say that I have any hacks per se, but I do have some products that have given me nice results lately.

First, ELEMIS. I’ve written about Elemis skincare before but hadn’t tried these Pro-Collagen products until recently. I highly recommend!

Pro-Collagen Tri-Acid Peel | After leaving this 8% Acid Peel on 15 minutes, my forehead wrinkles are visibly smoother (no easy feat!) and my face looks more refined overall. I use it 1-2 nights a week.

After removing the Tri-Acid Peel, I pat dry my face and press a few drops of Pro-Collagen Marine Moisture Essence in. My skin drinks it in, leaving it smooth and prepped for serum.

Pro-Collagen Marine Oil | I’ve been following serum with this wrinkle-fighting oil. It’s super hydrating and vitamin-packed but light enough that I can still layer moisturizer over it.

Q: Do you prefer matte or glass skin? Product reccos?

Both can be really beautiful. I think it just depends on your complexion and preference. For me personally, a matte finish has always felt aging. I adore the look of glass skin but my skin doesn’t feel flawless enough to pull it off. I try more for dewy skin, a well-placed highlighter, even the dolphin skin trend. So the goal (for me) is something in that range.

For a subtle glow, I’ve been blending Elemis Superfood Glow Priming Moisturiser into my day cream. The formula helps brighten and Kombucha gives it loads of nutrients, which feels good. Technically, it can be used (as a primer or moisturizer) on its own, but I need a little more hydration during the winter.

Hands down, my favorite one-and-done skin perfecting product is the +C Vit Brightening Perfector by Pixi. I like it so much, I’ve bought tubes for friends to try! It gives a blurred effect, seemingly camouflaging complexion imperfections and is infused with Vitamin-C for a dewy, radiant finish. NOTE: This product can separate. Shake it or massage the tube before using, then apply like a moisturizer.

Another great blurring product is the Nudestix Tinted Blur Foundation Stick. I’ve used it for years as a go-to product for quick shine control and on-the-go touchups. Lately I’ve been liking their Tinted Cover Foundation for a bit more coverage. It looks and feels really natural during the day, plus layers easily in spots I want more coverage.

Q: Have you tried any natural lip glosses that stay on?

That’s a hard question because 1) lip products rarely last on me, and 2) lip glosses in general aren’t a long-wearing product. That said, I suggest trying Nude Envie. Their glosses have added peptides and provide an even, high-shine finish thanks to the fat doe foot applicator. I like Peaceful – it’s a pearly nude shade. Fearless and Whisper are pretty, too! All their products are certified vegan and made without parabens, gluten or cruelty.

Thank you for the questions! Keep them coming. And stay tuned for some cute ideas for Valentine’s Day.
